Analog Love

I'm a proud owner of a Holga 135, spinner 360 and a couple falcon miniatures. Looking back months ago, I would never have guessed that I would fall in love with film. 35mm bliss.

I'm crossing my fingers for a photo/negative scanner for xmas. If Santa gets my wishlist hopefully I'll be able to share my film shots with you <3

Mustard Yellow Brings Smiles

Just over one year ago we brought home our little Hoobs. Three months ago we picked up Scarlet and 5 days ago we picked up a corn snake! hahah he's a sweetheart. Somewhere deep down everytime I bring one of these little guys home it makes me feel like I'm doing the right thing. I know I could be saving their lives, providing them with the best environment I can. It warms my heart to think if I was to ever have kids they get to grow up not fearing snakes, but loving and learning from them. I had an iguana when I was young, he made it only a couple years, however, we did not have the info available to us as we do now. I feel confident in our decisions and am excited for the future.

Anyways, summer just knocked on my door but prior to it stopping by its been raining. I did a bit of painting and then I started trying my hand at wire ring wrapping. I haven't quite got that down, but here's a painting in the mean time.

The Make-up Is Running.

I've been working on this three piece painting for a stupid amount of time. In fact I was finished it, but I hated the third one and scrapped it. So finally they're completed. I've just got to hang them up hahah

I'll have a couple posts over the next few days as I have a few projects close to finishing.

My Reflection Is Missing...

It's been a while, I know. The sun is shining, I just bought a new Suv and my time is taken up with feedings, cleaning and working. There's just toooo many distractions! :)
I'm excited and proud to say we've had four successful feedings, a great first shed and a large poop as a thank you. Handling is a work in progress, but our newest addition is coming along nicely. We love her as much as our little Hoobs <3

Back to the only real project I worked on in the last month. The other day I picked up this great mirror for a whole $4! So I lightly sanded down the frame, as it was peeling, and roughed up the old scratched up mirror. I grabbed a small tin of chalkboard paint and went at it.
I didn't remove all of the gold paint on the frame just the loose bits. I took some simple black acrylic paint, painted it on and wiped it off. I think it gives a dirty charm to it and matches our dark brown furniture better than the gold would have.
Tips:
-I'll strongly suggest you have a ventilated area and really I mean outside. The paint is very fumey and not pleasent to smell at all.
-It's oil base.. so you know clothes you don't like is recommended hahah.
-The next time I do this project I would scrap the mirror/glass and use some plywood stapled to the back of the mirror. Really just for the stablity and especially if its a gift for a child.

Peppermint Swirl and Fish Tends to Lie.

Over the years, I, like so many others have found Duct Tape to be a very interesting medium. It's challenging and in a category all of its own. There's some amazing duct tape artists out there and I by no means am one. I dabble and enjoy the pliable soft texture. I know I can't make elaborate dresses or flawless sculptures, but I've become quite taken with the art of duct tape flowers.
I have made some crazy things over the years out of this tricky medium. Pants, purses, sandles, prom flowers, etc. I've failed at wallets, had seams fall apart and still could help but wonder how I could do it better. I've given up so many times, yet I keep picking up the roll.

This piece is made from a small vanity lightbulb. I suppose I should have a better reference shot, but it is much smaller than it appears. Enjoy.

Silky Soy Wishes

I haven't done much in the way of creation in a little while. I'm starting to feel the need. Ideas are beginning to flow and my hands are itching to make them happen. I have a three piece painting that needs to be clear coated so I can hang them. Once that's done Ill post pictures. I also have this gorgeous clear wine bottle I would love to do something with, but I'm not sure if I should attempt to mutilate it and create a candle holder or work on a duct tape flower arrangement. Regardless of what I decide I'll put it up. Anyways this is just a "if anyones actually reading this I'm still going to blog I'm just figuring out the next piece" entry.
Tata for now.

Shading My Upper Lip.

I did this one just before new years. It was a graduation gift for a friend of ours. It was actually more of a joke gift than anything as he can't grow a dark moustache. So I used my boyfriend as the model. :)

Chilly Winter Day and a Hot Cup of Tea

Blog..blog...beeeelog.
I'm not much for grammer, I never know what to write on these things. However, I've been mulling over blogging for a while. I have a million bagillion ideas and not quite sure where I should go with them. So my thoughts are post them here, log them as I go and maybe just maybe it'll catch someone's eye and they'll give me direction. Or not at all, either way im sharing. :)
Im 23. Soon to be 24. I have a boyfriend with whom I'm crazy in love with. He supports my crazy whims and I couldn't ask for more. For my birthday last year we purchased a baby ball python (crazy.. I know). His name is Hoobs, I'm obsessed. He's been my muse for months now. I crave drawing, painting and taking pictures of him. He's a gorgeous animal, with beautiful colours. So really I'm not suprised I'm so facinated. The only real purpose of this tid bit is the small fact is you'll be seeing alot of Hoobs.
Here's the first of many to come. Enjoy and feel free to comment.
